Great photos. and thankfully a peaceful process was maintained. i would like to use an image of your photos as illustration of voters at a polling station. Would this be ok? Please contact me on ncs@smith-ouzman.com

Hi, Pete, I am trying to see if I can help the Mundari boy featured (eating leaves & grass) in today's (9 July 2010) Al-jazeera report on cattle rustling in Terekeka county. I believe the woman in your picture above was in the same group in the report. Do you happen to know the name of the village? Was it something like 'Tonbek'? It has been hard to eat today thinking of that child. I want to find out who might be best placed to help so if you have any ideas, that would be welcome too. I have sent an email to Tearfund but I am sure there must be others.

Great pictures, by the way. Best wishes. Jo Wealleans

lovely. i travelled the same road from Pibor to Bor just a few weeks ago. 9.5 hours where i became fully disemboweled. i'm still rocking back and forth from the ride. our vehicle may not have been as good as yours!
but i could feel the tension on the way. of course, i was studying child abductions for unicef!

thank you for the vivid description though.

Nice report Pete.
I really like that you highlight the positive aspects of the election process.
It is unrealistic to expect a smooth election in a country that has been so
disrupted.
We have problems here and we have been voting for decades and have not
been war torn at home!

Peter, I am a friend of Charlie Gaynor, he sent me your blog site and I have been following your postings daily.

I have missed updates and am concerned about your safety and the safety of your friends and co-workers.

Thank you for educating me and my family and friends, your work is now a daily discussion topic.

Peter,

Am really enjoying your report on this trip. I got bits and pieces of it from Mary, but only so much can be communicated over the phone before the credit runs out.

I'm not sure if you are aware, but she was traveling back to Pibor today. She sounded even more uncertain about this trip as she did the last one. Yesterday, in Pibor, her brother was arrested & beaten by SPLA on charges of hiding weapons and then later on released after Mary was able to get some high level intervention. She believes he was targeted because she is running for the seat. I know she fears going back there but she is still determined to see this thing through.

Please keep her in your thoughts and if you pray, add a couple for her.
